The Croton Falls Pumping Station is a new building to house the pumps and other equipment as part of the Cross River and Croton Falls Pumping Stations and Related Facilities Improvement Project. The proposed Pumping Station is approximately a 14,000 SF building, located on the Delaware Aqueduct, Shaft 11. The building is to contain six (6) pumps at the Pump Room level with Electrical and Control Rooms at the same level. To: Mechanical equipment will be located at the mezzanine level. The building is of steel frame construction with an exterior masonry veneer. In order to match the appearance of other Pumping Stations, the proposed roof is designed with different slopes, ridges and skylights.
SJH provided structural design services for the design of the Pumping Station building. The structural steel frame was modeled in STAAD and analyzed. The design was based on the New York State /City Building Code, with most stringent clauses used on a selective basis. Due to the roof geometry, building contained long span steel roof trusses. |
