This Design Build project involved the construction of new Metro North Station at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York. The project included new platforms, a pedestrian bridge, stairs and mezzanines on either side of the bridge, and elevators. In order to accomplish the construction during Yankees off season, extensive staging was involved. A portion of the existing pedestrian bridge had to be cut and the remainder used for pedestrian traffic during one season. The new structures were founded on piles, with piles caps and grade beams.
SJH provided structural design services for this project including reviewing preliminary plans and architectural drawings, and developing structural design drawings and specifications for the east stairs and the elevator shaft. Drawings include, but are not limited to, foundation plan, floor and roof framing plan, elevations and column schedules, concrete deck details and elevator shaft details and sections. |
Services Provided:
- Structural Design of the east stairs
- Preparation of contract documents
- Analysis of the existing pedestrian bridge in the ‘cut’ position
- Design of the Temporary Stairs.
