Cross Bronx Expressway is approximately an 11 mile six lane (three lanes in each direction) highway located in the Bronx, New York.  Several overpasses and bridges traverse over the roadway at along the corridor.  In order to drain the water under these bridges/ overpasses, the State had installed a gutter system which was failing at several of the locations.  For this project, SJH Engineering, P.C. investigated this gutter/ drainage system and developed plans for the replacement of these gutters.  We performed a field survey to determine the existing location of all the gutters and the drainage system components, and redesigned drainage systems for proper run-off of water from the roadway.  The protection of this gutter system was achieved by the installation of concrete barriers.
